Whittier, CA – Fatal Pedestrian Accident on Santa Gertrudes Street
Whittier, California (November 5, 2018) – According to authorities, 2-year-old and her father, 32-year-old Robert Ferris were struck by an oncoming vehicle Sunday night in the area of Whittier. The accident transpired at approximately 5:30 pm on Sunday, November 4th, on Santa Gertrudes Street, about a quarter-mile south of Leffingwell Road.
The initial police report indicates, Robert was holding Harley’s hand as they were walking across the street in when they were suddenly struck by an oncoming vehicle. Paramedics rushed to the scene of the accident and attempted to stabilize the 2-year-old and her father before transporting them to Irvine Medical Center where 2-year-old Harley died on the day before her 3rd birthday. Robert was listed in a critical condition at the hospital. The driver involved, identified as 39-year-old William Hurlburt IV of Whittier, remained at the crash site and cooperated with officials.
Officers will continue to investigate this accident.
