Walnut Creek, CA – Ranya Ramey Charged with DUI Following Serious Crash

Walnut Creek, CA (August 13, 2018) – A serious DUI accident took place on Sunday in Walnut Creek. Around 4:00 am 18 year old Ramya Ramey was operating a 2000 Honda Civic in the eastbound lanes of Highway 24. Ramey lost control of the vehicle, allowing it to go completely off the roadway. After leaving the road, the vehicle flipped over, causing major damage.

At the time of the crash, there were three passengers in Ramey’s vehicle. Two 18 year old men died at the scene, while an 18 year old woman from Oakley suffered serious injuries. She was taken to John Miur Medical Center for treatment. Ramey, meanwhile, is in the hospital with injuries considered serious but not life-threatening.

Following an investigation, Ramey was charged with DUI along with two counts of felony manslaughter for the deaths of her passengers. The accident is pending further investigation.
