A female Uber driver and working mother with three jobs was killed in a two-car hit-and-run accident in South Los Angeles that also left her passenger critically injured. The Uber driver killed was a mother of 2.
Uber Driver Killed in Los Angeles
The driver was identified as Folesha Parker Iverson, 52. According to the woman’s young daughters, Iverson was a widow raising two daughters on her own. In addition to driving for Uber and Lyft, she worked full time at A.B. Miller High School in Fontana as a counselor. Her death comes shortly after the children lost their father to lung cancer, FoxLA reported.
The accident occurred at about 3:40 am on Saturday, January 14 at Arlington Avenue and West Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Two people were seen fleeing the scene. The driver of a silver Infiniti involved in the accident fled the scene on foot and was taken into custody later that day. This Uber hit and run accident, where the silver Infiniti occupants took off on foot, so as the words state, hit and run which is what they did.
Surveillance video showed the Infiniti running a red light and striking Iverson’s black Honda Accord. The suspect was driving northbound on Arlington Avenue while Iverson was driving eastbound on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
Sadly Uber Driver Killed, Pronounced Dead, Passenger in Stable Condition
Iverson was pronounced dead at the scene and her male passenger was trapped in the vehicle and had to be rescued by fire workers. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition that was updated to stable condition.
The accident is still under investigation.
