Truck Accidents in California
We would like to extend our sincerest wishes for a full and speedy recovery to all those who were injured in this highway accident.
Devastating accidents involving tractor-trailers are not an uncommon sight on California roadways. These accidents are extremely dangerous and can cause injuries or fatalities to those involved. When it comes to a collision with a tractor-trailer, motorcycles, cars, and SUVs are simply no match for the truck’s size and weight. According to data that has been collected, when an injury or fatality occurs in an accident where the truck driver was at fault, the main contributing factor is driving at excessive speeds. Speeding caused three times the number of accidents as the next contributing factor which is improper turning. Other common causes of truck driver negligence include:
- Driving under the influence of alcohol
- Texting while driving
- Aggressive driving
- Improperly secured cargo
- Improperly executed lane changes or passing
- Inexperienced drivers
- Failure to yield the right-of-way
- Vehicle not properly maintained
- Failure to obey traffic signals or signs
- Falling asleep at the wheel
The number of commercial vehicles and tractor-trailers on California’s highways is growing at a steady rate, placing other drivers at a greater risk of injury or fatality than ever before.
