Tuolumne County, CA: Motorcyclist Killed in Sonora Collision
Tuolumne County, California (March 1, 2018): The Sonora Police Department is conducting an investigation into a fatal motorcycle crash at a Sonora intersection late Monday night, February 26, 2018. The victim, 46-year-old Reid Bennington, died early the following morning, Tuesday, February 27, 2018.
Officials believe the accident occurred just before midnight when Bennington’s Yamaha motorcycle was struck by a silver Z06 Corvette that failed to stop at a red traffic signal at the intersection of Bradford Street and Shepherd Street. Bennington sustained critical injuries after being thrown from the motorcycle and he was swiftly transported to Sonora Regional Medical Center by paramedics at the scene. He was pronounced dead at the hospital just before 5:00 a.m. the next morning.
The driver of the Corvette, a 38-year-old Sonora local, has not yet been identified. He was reportedly uninjured in the collision and officials do not suspect that alcohol was a factor in the crash at this time. No additional information has been provided.
