Tehama County, CA: Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash on 5 Freeway
Tehama County, California (March 9, 2018): Authorities have launched an active investigation into a fatal two-vehicle collision on 5 Freeway, near Elder Creek, early Tuesday morning, March 6, 2018. The deceased victim has not yet been identified and only limited information has been made available while the investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
Officials believe the accident unfolded just before 4:00 a.m. when a 2017 Jeep traveling north on 5 Freeway veered of the highway and struck a guardrail. The force of the collision caused the Jeep to veer back onto the highway. As the Jeep was slowing to a stop in the northbound slow lane, it was struck by a 2013 Freightliner that was unable to avoid collision. The 21-year-old unidentified driver of the Jeep was thrown from the vehicle and died as a result of fatal injuries sustained in the collision. Reports did not indicate whether the driver of the Freightliner, 25-year-old Roman Duscoy, sustained any injuries as a result of the crash.
