Stockton, CA – Driver in Fatal Wrong-Way Pedestrian Crash Identified
Stockton, CA (August 13, 2018)- The driver responsible for killing a pedestrian in a wrong-way crash late last week has been identified. Police say that 31 year old Eduardo Perez is the person to blame for the incident. According to authorities, Perez was driving a blue Chevrolet Malibu southbound at a high rate of speed near Section Avenue on Thursday around 12:35 pm.

A man standing outside the big rig was hit by Perez’s vehicle and dragged before the vehicle came to a stop.
The man was critically injured and was transported to San Jaoquin County Hospital. Sadly, he died from his injuries in the hospital. Perez suffered minor injuries.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Perez is under investigation for DUI. No further information is available at this time.
Southern California Pedestrian Accidents
We extend our thoughts and deepest condolences to the person killed in this crash. DUI and pedestrians do not mix and this crash is a sad example of that fact.
Unfortunately, pedestrian accidents are an all too common site in California. Our state has led the nation in pedestrian deaths over a number of years. In the first half of 2017, California ranked first with 352 pedestrian fatalities. In 2016, Los Angeles County alone experienced 265 fatalities related to pedestrian accidents. Over the previous 10 years, the numbers have continued to rise.
Drivers have an affirmative legal duty to exercise care in order to avoid pedestrian collisions. This means stopping at crosswalks, yielding to pedestrians and driving cautiously on crowded city streets and residential areas. Further, drivers of course have a duty to not drive while impaired.
With pedestrian accidents bound to happen, it is important to keep in mind that pedestrians have certain legal rights in the event of a collision. If you or a loved one are hurt in a Los Angeles pedestrian crash, you should speak with a personal injury attorney immediately.
At the Los Angeles Injury Group, our team has experience with Southern California pedestrian injuries. We know how to handle these difficult cases with the care and compassion that they deserve.
