Stockton, CA – Deadly Car Crash on 5 Freeway

Stockton, CA (September 17, 2019) – A fatal car crash took place on Monday, September 16th on the 5 Freeway.

Reports state that David Ruiz, 28, was driving a 2016 Dodge Dart southbound on the freeway in the vicinity of the Hammer Lane offramp, when, for reasons that have not yet been determined, Ruiz lost control of his vehicle and spun-out, crossing all lanes of traffic.

Emergency medical responders located the Dodge at the bottom of an embankment on the west side of the freeway. The passenger side of the vehicle had been smashed into a tree.

Medical technicians attempted to render life-saving aid to both Ruiz and his female passenger. The woman, a 24-year-old, died at the scene of the accident as a result of the injuries she sustained during the crash.

The identity of the dead woman has not yet been made public.

Ruiz received an injury to his head during the collision. An ambulance took him to San Joaquin General Hospital for emergency treatment.

Crash investigators are endeavoring to decide if the rainy weather played a part in the fatal collision.

We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time.  Our thoughts are with the injured victim and his family in hopes of a full recovery.
