Spring Valley, CA – Deadly Hit-and-Run Accident on Highway 49
Spring Valley, CA (September 18, 2018) – On September 17, one passenger was killed and two were injured in a deadly hit-and-run accident on Highway 49. The accident happened around 1:50 p.m.
According to police, a black 1999 Mercedes Benz was rolled over on part of the highway near an exit when they arrived. Investigators said that the driver had swerved into the center divider and struck the barrier. The vehicle landed on its roof before it rolled into the median on the side of the highway. When first responders arrived, they found a woman in her 20s trapped in the vehicle.
The victim was rushed to the Sharp Memorial Hospital, which is where she was pronounced deceased. Authorities said that the driver and a front-seat passenger fled the scene.
The driver was identified as 27-year-old Rene Ruiz, who was charged with hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter.
