Southeast Bakersfield, CA – Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Accident Causes Fatality
Southeast Bakersfield, CA (September 27, 2018) – One person was fatally struck in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident that took place in Southeast Bakersfield on Cheatham Avenue. The accident took place on Wednesday, September 26 around 7 p.m.
Police said that, at the time of the accident, a woman had been on the roadway crossing the street when she was reportedly struck by a vehicle. The woman had been crossing outside of a crosswalk at the time.
The woman died at the scene of the accident, according to police. Her name will not be released as of yet.
The driver fled the scene immediately after striking her. Apparently, they returned to the scene moments later and they were arrested by police for felony hit-and-run.
At this time, the California Highway Patrol continues to investigate.
