South El Monte, CA – Fatal Truck Accident on 60 Freeway
South El Monte, CA (September 3, 2018) – Two people lost their lives in a fatal truck accident on the 60 Freeway yesterday in the morning. The accident happened at 4:30 a.m. in the area of Peck Road.
For unknown reasons, a semi-truck carrying cantaloupes rear-ended a BMW that was stopped on the freeway at the time. The operator of the truck then lost control, which caused it to go off the roadway and fall from the freeway overpass onto the road below.
Meanwhile, the vehicle spun around and ended up facing west on the eastbound shoulder of the roadway. Both the drivers of the vehicles died at the scene, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Officials believe that the driver in the semi-truck was trying to slow down so that he wouldn’t collide with the sedan. However, he failed to do so, which led to the collision.
