Shandon, CA – Two Car Crash Kills One
Shandon, CA (July 25, 2018) – A two vehicle crash on Highway 46 Wednesday morning left one person dead. The accident occurred around 7:45 am near the intersection of Highways 46 and 41.
The California Highway Patrol investigated the crash. Officers determined that a large vehicle, possibly a military-style Humvee was traveling in the eastbound lanes of Highway 46. The Humvee driver may have been returning from a military training exercise at nearby Fort Hunter Liggett.
As the Humvee continued traveling eastbound, the driver suddenly blew a tire and lost control of the vehicle, causing it to drift into the opposite lane of travel. While there, the Humvee collided head-on with a sedan traveling westbound.
The driver of the Sedan died in the crash. No other details concerning the accident are immediately available. The CHP continues to investigate the crash as of Wednesday evening.
