Shafter, CA – Jair Espinoza Killed in Multi-Vehicle Collision on Shafter Avenue
Shafter, California (October 30, 2018) – A 16-year-old high school student was killed in a car accident on Monday afternoon in Shafter. Jair Espinoza was killed in a crash that occurred at approximately 3:30 pm in the 500 block of N. Shafter Avenue near the Shafter Animal Control Shelter.
According to investigators, Espinoza and his passenger were reportedly in a Honda sedan when, for indeterminate reasons, they were struck by a Dodge truck. According to first responders, Espinoza sustained major injuries upon impact of the collision, and paramedics transported him to a Bakersfield hospital. Sadly, Espinoza was pronounced dead at the hospital. His passenger reportedly sustained moderate injuries and was also transported to Bakersfield hospital for more in-depth treatment. The current physical condition of the injured victims has not been made public at this time. Authorities did not specify if the driver of the Dodge remained at the scene of the accident.
The California Highway Patrol is currently investigating this tragic accident. More details will be released when additional evidence comes to the surface.
