Scotts Valley, CA – 19-Year-Old Injured in Serious DUI Crash
Scotts Valley, CA (October 16, 2018) – On Saturday night, October 13, a young driver was injured in a serious DUI crash that happened along Highway 17. The accident happened around 11:45 p.m. north of Mt. Hermon Road.
The California Highway Patrol arrived at the scene to find that two vehicles collided with one another. At the time, 47-year-old Jesus Lopez Moreno had been driving a 1999 Jetta north in the southbound lanes of Highway 17 when he suddenly struck a Mazda. The motorist in the Mazda was identified as a 19-year-old Santa Cruz man. He was taken to the hospital with a variety of injuries and is expected to be okay.
Lopez Moreno was also hospitalized but suspected of driving while impaired. He was booked in jail that night. The investigation continues at this time.
