Santa Rosa, CA – Fatal Pedestrian Accident Along Stony Point Road
Santa Rosa, CA (March 21, 2019) – 53-year-old Richard Anthony Burns was identified as the man who was struck in a fatal pedestrian accident along Stony Point Road. The accident took place on Wednesday morning around 7:00 a.m.
Burns lost his life near Barndance Lance when he was crossing Stony Point and was suddenly struck by a Chevy Cruze that was traveling north through the area.
Burns was struck so hard that he was thrown into a mailbox upon impact. His backpack stuck to the front of the vehicle due to the force and a shoe went airborne across the street. By the time paramedics arrived at the scene, Burns was found lying lifeless in the middle of the road. He was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
The car involved was driven by an 18-year-old from Santa Rosa, identified as Esteban Garcia Martinez. Martinez stopped at the scene of the accident and cooperated with police. His vehicle had a broken windshield and front-end damage.
The accident remains under investigation.
