Santa Barbara, CA – Fatal Accident on Hwy 154 at San Antonio Creek Rd
Santa Barbara, CA (August 21, 2023) – A fatal car accident occurred early Saturday morning on Highway 154, leaving one person dead and five others wounded.
Firefighters were dispatched to Highway 154 at San Antonio Creek Road in Santa Barbara at around 1:45 a.m.
A white Nissan Ultima and a black Infinity SUV were both involved in the accident.
According to County Fire Captain Scott Safechuck, the male Nissan driver was declared dead at the site.
Two of the five individuals in the Infinity SUV are in critical condition, while three more are in moderate condition after being injured. Three ground ambulances took all the victims to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.
Both lanes of Highway 154 were blocked in the Windy Gap region overnight, but the area was reopened at roughly 7:15 a.m. on Saturday.
The incident has been reported to the California Highway Patrol, who are handling the ongoing investigation.
