Santa Barbara, CA – Bicyclist Seriously Hurt in Crash on Gibraltar Road
Santa Barbara, CA (August 5, 2018) – A bicyclist suffered serious injuries after colliding with a car on Saturday in Santa Barbara. The crash took place just after 5:00 pm. Officials say the bicyclist was riding in the 2900 block of Gibraltar Road. There, he collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle.
The bicyclist suffered serious injuries in the collision. A medical helicopter was dispatched to the scene as the bicyclist was airlifted to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital with serious injuries. The bicyclist is identified only as a man in his 50s. The other driver was not identified.
Police have not said what caused this collision to occur. The accident remains under further investigation by the California Highway Patrol. No charges have been issued at this time.
