Santa Ana, CA – Hit-and-Run Driver Juan Alcantara Kills a Pedestrian at South Bristol Street and West Warner Avenue
Santa Ana, California (October 20, 2018) – According to the California Highway Patrol, 47-year-old Juan Alcantara, killed a male pedestrian at an intersection in San Bernardino Friday morning. The fatal accident happened at approximately 5:30 a.m. Friday, October 19th, near the intersection of South Bristol Street and West Warner Avenue.
According to officials, the man was lying on the middle of Bristol Street next to a blanket when a vehicle screeched and nearly struck him. The unidentified pedestrian then sat up before laying back down as the vehicle proceeded to drive away. Investigators believe a second vehicle then came by and hit the man. The driver of the vehicle, Juan Carlos Alcantara, stopped approximately 50 yards away from the man but then continued driving northbound. Police describe the unidentified victim, as a black man in his 20s or 30s. Sometime later, first responders arrived on the scene and pronounced the unidentified pedestrian, dead at the scene of the accident. Alcantara was arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run after a woman called the police to report his name and an address where he could be found.
This accident is still under investigation. As more evidence continues to surface, more information will be released to public sources.
