San Jose, CA – Truck Fatally Strikes Pedestrian on Freeway
San Jose, CA (November 19, 2018) – A woman who has not yet been identified was struck by a truck and killed on the Interstate 280 Freeway in a pedestrian-involved accident that took place on Tuesday, shortly after 2:30 in the morning.
Initial accident reports indicate that the woman was hit by a Budget Truck Rental box truck. The box truck was traveling north on I-280, just north of the Interstate 101 Freeway. When paramedics arrived at the scene of the accident, they found the woman lying unconscious in the roadway. Sadly, the collision resulted in a fatal trauma and the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver stopped and remained at the scene of the accident and has thus far been very cooperative with authorities.
The name of the victim has not yet been released as her next of kin have not been notified. This investigation into this accident is still underway.

According to a study put out by the California Department of Public Health, between 2007 and 2013 pedestrian-involved accidents rose by 11%. In 2013 alone there were more than 225,000 pedestrian injuries. Pedestrians also make up just over one fifth (21%) of all fatalities resulting from auto accidents.
