San Diego County, CA – Caltrans Workers Injured Following DUI Accident
San Diego County, CA (August 28, 2018) – A serious accident in San Diego County left two Caltrans workers injured on 15 Freeway. They were injured after they were struck by a DUI driver. The accident took place Sunday night around 10:50 p.m., according to police.
Police arrived at the scene around the area of the Rainbow Valley Boulevard. 24-year-old Ross Rodgers was arrested following the incident.
Police say that Rodgers was traveling south on the Freeway when he suddenly crossed over the traffic cones in the area with his 2008 Toyota. Rodgers went into a two-lane closure and struck the two Caltrans workers as they were working to stripe lanes. One employee was driving a truck while the other was walking alongside the vehicle.
Rodgers hit the pickup, which caused serious injuries to both workers. Both of them were transported to the Palomar Medical Center in Escondido for treatment of their injuries.
Rodgers was also hospitalized with a broken foot, and then arrested for DUI.
