San Diego County, California (April 9, 2018): Authorities are conducting an ongoing investigation into a fatal crash on 8 Freeway in El Cajon, CA, early yesterday morning, Sunday, April 8, 2018. The victims have not yet been identified and only limited information has been made available while the investigation remains active.
Officials believe the crash happened just before 1:30 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of 8 Freeway, near El Cajon Boulevard. Two good samaritans had pulled to the side of the road to assist another motorist who had lost control of his vehicle and was stopped on the highway. As the three motorists were standing outside of the disabled vehicle, a passing vehicle on the highway struck two of them, killing both at the scene. The third driver managed to avoid injury.
