San Diego, CA – Three Injured in Wrong Way Crash at Rosecrans Street Intersection
San Diego, CA (July 29, 2018) – Three elderly people sustained injuries following a wrong way crash on Saturday in San Diego. The crash took place around 9:40 am at the intersection of Rosecrans Street and Sports Arena Boulevard in the Midway District neighborhood.
San Diego Police report that a Toyota Camry, driven by a 90-year-old man, was traveling south when it suddenly veered into the northbound lanes. While in the northbound lanes, the Camry collided with a 2011 Hyundai Sonata.
An 84-year-old man and 85-year-old woman in the Hyundai suffered injuries in the crash. The man had a laceration to his head while the woman ruptured her spleen. The Camry driver sustained a fractured hip. None of the injured have been identified. The intersection remained closed while police were on scene.
Police are actively investigating the crash. At this time, it is not clear what caused the Camry to drift into the oncoming travel lanes. No further information is available.
