San Diego, CA – Six Rescued, Hospitalized After Multi-Car Crash at San Diego Zoo on San Pasqual Valley Rd

San Diego, CA (August 10, 2023) – Traffic was stopped near the San Diego Zoo Safari Park on Tuesday evening after a serious accident prompted the deployment of rescue helicopters and emergency responders.

At around 4:00 p.m., the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department (SDFD) responded to a call of a serious collision on San Pasqual Valley Road. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a wreck had occurred between a pickup truck and a car in the eastbound lanes of San Pasqual Valley Road.

Due to the distance from nearby hospitals, the San Diego Fire Department sent over 50 firemen and numerous air ambulances to the incident immediately. There were at least six individuals trapped in the wreckage, and aerial footage showed firefighters attempting to free them.

All six patients suffered serious traumatic injuries, although SDFD authorities did not offer insight into their current conditions.

The cause behind the accident is currently being investigated.
