San Diego, CA – Pedestrian Hit & Killed By Garbage Truck on Sixth Ave

San Diego, CA (August 22, 2023) – On Tuesday morning, a man was killed after he was struck by a garbage truck in downtown San Diego.

Close to the region around the Fifth Avenue trolley stop, at roughly 5:20 a.m., the incident occurred at the intersection of Sixth Avenue and C Street.

According to the San Diego Police Department, a man was walking along Sixth Avenue before being hit and killed by a southbound garbage truck. The man, described as being in his 30s to 40s, was declared dead at the site.

Southbound Sixth Avenue was blocked for hours at B Street, and officers say their investigation has not yet concluded.
