San Diego, CA: One Killed in Fatal Two-Vehicle Collision
San Diego, California (February 26, 2018): Authorities are conducting an ongoing investigation into a fatal two-vehicle crash at a San Diego intersection late Friday morning, February 23, 2018. Only limited information has been released while the investigation remains open.
The victim has been identified as 91-year-old Doris Lucille Guffin. She was reportedly driving a Toyota Camry south on Mt Abernathy Road when, just after 11:00 a.m., she was struck by a car traveling east on Balboa Avenue. Police believe the Camry may have entered the intersection of the two roads against the traffic signal and at a high rate of speed at the time of the collision. The force of the collision caused the Camry to crash into a light pole and split in half.
The total number of individuals involved in the collision is unknown but reports indicate that Guffin sustained fatal injuries and a 32-year-old woman sustained minor injuries. No further details are known at this time.
