San Diego, CA – One Dead, One Hurt in Wrong-Way Crash on I-15
San Diego, CA (August 27, 2023) – An early Sunday morning crash involving a vehicle going the wrong way on Interstate 15 in Mission Valley resulted in the death of one driver.
The accident occurred at 1:30 a.m. in the southbound lanes, and the motorway was shut down near Friars Road as a result.
The California Highway Patrol received news about a northbound motorist in the southbound lanes of I-15 just before they got reports of a collision involving a Honda Fit, a Nissan Altima, and an Infiniti SUV.
Using the “Jaws of Life” and other equipment, firefighters tried to release a motorist stuck in his Honda. According to authorities, the operation took around 25 minutes before paramedics declared the motorist dead. Someone from another car was also taken to the hospital, though their current condition is unknown.
During the CHP’s investigation of the incident, the road was closed at Aero Drive. An investigation is still active and ongoing in the interim.
Our deepest condolences go out to the deceased victim’s family. Our thoughts are with the injured victim in hopes of their complete recovery.
