San Diego, CA: Motorcyclist Injured in Hit-and-Run Collision

San Diego, California (March 21, 2018): The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department is overseeing an investigation into a hit-and-run collision between a motorcycle and a rented truck late yesterday morning, Tuesday, March 20, 2018. The victim has been identified as 24-year-old Toma Gorbunavo, but only limited details have been made available while investigators continue to gather information about the incident.

Officials believe the crash happened just before 12:00 p.m. when Gorbunova was struck by a rented truck while riding her motorcycle in the 9300 block of Miramar Road, near Padgett Street. The driver of the truck reportedly ran a stop sign just prior to striking the victim. Gorbunova was thrown from the motorcycle and sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision. She was swiftly transported from the scene to a nearby hospital where she was admitted in critical condition.
