San Diego, CA – Man Struck & Killed in East Village Parking Garage on 11th Ave
San Diego, CA (August 12, 2023) – On Saturday, San Diego Police stated that a 47-year-old man had been killed when he was struck by a vehicle in the East Village underground parking garage.
According to Officer Robert Heims, the victim was walking east on 11th Avenue at 8:30 p.m. when he tripped and slid down the driveway into the garage at 1000 11th Avenue.
Shortly thereafter, a 38-year-old male driving a 1999 Toyota Camry turned right into the parking garage, failed to notice the pedestrian, and ran over the man.
The pedestrian was brought to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead from severe internal injuries.
Per Heims, drunk driving was not a contributing factor in the accident. Anyone with information on the crash was encouraged to contact the department’s traffic division.
Our deepest condolences are with the deceased victim’s family.
