San Diego, CA – Man Crashes into Home on Abbots Hill, Causing Injuries
San Diego, CA (August 31, 2023) – On Wednesday, a gas leak, injuries, and property damage were reported when an elderly man slammed into a home in San Diego after apparently falling asleep behind the wheel.
The motorist was reportedly leaving a dental clinic when the collision occurred at 8273 Abbots Hill Road. The driver only sustained minor injuries, though EMTs also assessed at least two other people at the scene. Their current conditions are unknown.
The gas connection to the home was ruptured as a consequence of the force of the collision, posing a serious threat to the home’s occupants. Crews from San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) worked together to seal the gas line and prevent an explosion.
An investigation into the crash remains active.
Our thoughts go out to the injured victim and their loved ones in hopes of their full recovery.
