San Diego, CA – Man and Wife Injured in Crash at Mira Mesa Boulevard
San Diego, California (October 27, 2018) – According to San Diego Police, a man and his wife were injured as a result of a DUI crash that happened early Saturday morning. The accident transpired at approximately 4 am at the Camino Santa Fe and Mira Mesa Boulevard intersection. No detailed information concerning the identities of the people involved in the accident has been released.
According to the San Diego Police Department, a 73-year-old man was driving a Toyota Venza with his wife as a passenger, when the collision took place. The couple was traveling northbound on Camino Santa Fe approaching an intersection when they were struck by a Ford Escape. Sometime later, Police and firefighters were dispatched to the scene and Paramedics transported the driver of the Ford Escape as well as the 73-year-old man and his wife to a local hospital for more in-depth treatment of the injuries they sustained upon impact of the collision. According to first responders, the 73-year-old man fractured both of his hips and fractured his ribs, his wife suffered internal injuries. The 33-year-old driver of the Ford Escape was transported for cuts on his face. According to investigators, the 33-year-old may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. Authorities did not specify if the suspect was taken into custody.
The crash is under an active investigation by the San Diego Police Department Traffic Division.
