San Diego, CA – Injuries Occur in Four-Vehicle Wreck on I-5 SB at East St
San Diego, CA (August 10, 2023) – The on-ramp from East Street to southbound I-5 in San Diego was closed due to a major vehicle collision and injuries on Wednesday morning, August 9.
At around 8:50 a.m., officials responded to the crash site and discovered that a Toyota Prius, a Kia, a Chevy Malibu, and a Toyota pick-up truck were all involved in an accident.
According to witnesses, the chain reaction of collisions began when the Toyota Prius cut off the driver of the Kia, causing the woman behind the wheel of the Kia to collide with the Chevy Malibu. Two of the cars then ran off the road and struck a motorway sign.
The motorist in the Toyota pickup truck was entering the highway when they were hit by one of the latter vehicles. Several of the drivers were hurt, though all were expected to recover.
The California Highway Patrol is looking into the circumstances surrounding the collision at this time.
