San Diego, CA – Fatal COASTER Train Crash Occurs at Sassafras St
San Diego, CA (August 19, 2023) – On Wednesday afternoon in San Diego, a COASTER commuter train was reported to have fatally hit one person.
At around 3:50 p.m., the Transit Enforcement Unit of the North Coastal Sheriff’s Office responded to a call about a northbound COASTER hitting a person.
The incident, according to authorities, took place on the train lines north of Sassafras Street. The adult pedestrian was killed in the incident, per the San Diego Sheriff’s Office, which also responded.
The victim’s name was withheld pending notification of family members.
Nobody on the train was hurt. Anybody with information regarding this accident should call the non-emergency number for SDSO.
