San Benito County, CA – Deadly Highway 101 Accident Kills 1, Injures 3
San Benito, CA (August 20, 2018) – A deadly Highway 101 accident ended in serious results when one person lost their life and three others were seriously injured. The accident took place in San Benito County.
Police say that the wrong-way collision took place around 1:15 a.m. on Sunday on Highway 101, just south of Highway 156. The California Highway Patrol identified the woman who lost her life as 56-year-old Catherine Henry. She had been driving northbound in the southbound lanes when she suddenly collided head-on with a Chevy Cruze.
A Mercedes Benz and a GMC Sierra also tried to avoid her vehicle traveling in the wrong direction but weren’t able to, also becoming a part of the collision.
Henry died at the scene. Two occupants in the Cruze received broken bones and one passenger in the Sierra received minor injuries. They were all taken to local hospital for treatment of their injuries.
An investigation continues at this time.
