Sacramento, CA – Fatal Bicycle Hit-and-Run Takes Life of Teenager
Sacramento, CA (September 22, 2018) – Police responded to a fatal bicycle hit-and-run that took place in Sacramento County that led to the death of a 14-year-old student from Mira Loma High School.
The 14-year-old has since been identified as DeSean Rowe-Manns. He was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver on Wednesday, September 19 in the morning hours. The accident took place on Watt Avenue in the Arden Arcade community.
Police arrived at the scene around 5 a.m. and found that a vehicle sped off while the 14-year-old was still on the hood of the vehicle. The child was found unresponsive and unconscious lying in somebody’s front yard. Paramedics immediately rushed the child to the hospital and he was treated for major injuries. He has since been pronounced dead due to the accident.
Police found out from witnesses that the 14-year-old had been trying to pop a wheelie up onto the sidewalk but instead fell backward and was struck by the vehicle. The suspect’s vehicle has since been described as a dark-colored minivan or SUV.
Police are still trying to determine who is responsible for the hit-and-run.
