Sacramento County, CA: Fatal Pedestrian Collision in Carmichael
Sacramento County, California (March 13, 2018): Authorities are conducting an active and ongoing investigation into a fatal pedestrian collision at an intersection in Carmichael, CA, early yesterday night, March 12, 2018. As investigators are still working to gather information about the incident, only limited details have been made available to the public at this time.
Officials believe the accident happened just before 9:00 p.m., when an unidentified male pedestrian attempted to cross Walnut Avenue and walked directly in front of a 2001 Volkswagon traveling north on Walnut, just past Marconi Avenue. The pedestrian was reportedly not in the crosswalk at the time of the incident and the driver of the Volkswagon, an 18-year-old woman from Carmichael, CA, was unable to avoid collision. The pedestrian was taken to Mercy San Juan Medical Center to be treated for injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital a short while later. No additional information has been provided at this time.
