Sacramento, CA – Teen Injured After Being Hit by Police Car
Sacramento, CA (July 24, 2018) – A Sacramento police chase of a 16 year old boy ended poorly on Sunday night. Officers, patrolling the 900 block of Eleanor Avenue near Rio Linda Boulevard, attempted to stop the teen for a motor vehicle code violation around 10:00 pm.
After officers approached, the teen fled on a bicycle. Police initially chased the suspect on foot. However, at some point a patrol vehicle joined in the chase as the boy continued to evade officers. The patrol vehicle collided with the teen during the pursuit.
A woman who identified herself as the boy’s aunt said the collision threw her nephew 10 feet into the air and over another car. Police confirmed that the boy suffered minor injuries as a result of the collision. He was treated at a local hospital.
According to Sacramento police, the accident and the actions of the officers remain under investigation at this time. The officers involved in the chase and collision have not been identified.
