Riverside County, CA: Child Killed in Pedestrian Hit-and-Run Collision
Riverside County, California (March 14, 2018): The Lake Elsinore Police Department Traffic Reconstruction Team is conducting an active and ongoing investigation into a fatal hit-and-run pedestrian accident yesterday evening, Tuesday, March 13, 2018. As investigators are continuing to gather information about the collision, very few details have been made available to the public at this time.
Officials believe the pedestrian, an unidentified 10-year-old boy, was struck by red Chevrolet pickup truck just before 7:30 p.m. near the intersection of Sumner Avenue and Langstaff Street. Emergency response crews were swiftly dispatched to the accident location and paramedics transported the victim to a nearby hospital to be treated for injuries sustained in the crash. The child tragically died a short while later.
Authorities are still searching for the driver of the red pickup truck, who fled the scene after the accident. Officials believe the driver was a Hispanic man and think that the vehicle may have been outfitted with chrome wheels.
