Placer County, CA: Injuries Reported in Auburn Two-Vehicle Collision

Placer County, California (March 23, 2018): Police have opened an investigation into a two-vehicle collision in Auburn, CA, early Wednesday afternoon, March 22, 2018. Only limited information has been released to the public while the investigation remains active and ongoing.

Officials believe the accident happened around 1:00 p.m. when a Dodge Avenger and a Ford Ranger collided on Highway 49, near Streeter Road. The Dodge had reportedly begun hydroplaning and spun out into the southbound lanes and the southbound Ford was unable to avoid collision. The driver of the Dodge, 19-year-old Jonathan Cooper, reportedly suffered minor injuries in the crash while both the driver of the Ford, 30-year-old Derrick Youngman, of Nevada City, CA, and a passenger in the Ford, 35-year-old Josh Beasom, of Meadow Vista, CA, are reported to have sustained serious injuries. All three victims were transported to Sutter Roseville Medical Center and no updates on their respective conditions have been released and no further details have been provided.
