Petaluma, CA – Caitlin Marshall Injured, Infant Dead in Tragic Crash

Fatal Petaluma accidentPetaluma, CA (August 10, 2018) – A very serious car accident took the life of an infant and injured several others on Thursday.  The crash took place in Petaluma on Lakeville Highway.   At approximately 8:12 pm, a Volkswagen Jetta driven by 18 year old Ryan Deloye was traveling northbound on the highway.  Suddenly, and for unknown reasons, Deloye’s Jetta veered into the southbound travel lanes.

In the southbound lanes, Deloye’s vehicle struck a Ford Fusion driven by 31 year old Caitlin Marshall.  The Jetta driven by Deloye then went on to collide with a Ford Fusion driven by 25 year old Matthew Swoyer.

A 32 year old passenger and four children, ages 7 months 1, 3, and 5 were in the Fusion with Marshall when the crash occurred.  Tragically, the 7 month old infant died in the collision.  Marshall and the 32 year old were seriously injured and rushed to Santa Rosa Hospital.  The 1, 3 and 5 year old were also hurt and hospitalized.  Their conditions are unknown.

Swoyer suffered injuries and is being treated at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center while Deloye has minor injuries and was also taken to Santa Rosa.

Police have not yet completed their accident investigation at this time.

Los Angeles Car Accidents

This crash is a tragedy of epic proportions.  At this time, we do not know the exact reason that Deloye left his lane of travel.  It seems likely, however, that he will be held at fault in this collision.

The surviving victims will have a legal right to bring a personal injury claim against Deloye due to negligence.  The infant’s family can also assert a claim for wrongful death.  In any event, the legal battles in this case will likely be long and complicated as the injured attempt to recover compensation.
