Palmdale, CA – Fatal Crash on Antelope Valley Frwy
Palmdale, CA (January 07, 2020) – A resident of Lancaster, recently identified as 42-year-old Anthony Beckett Jr., died on Saturday, January 4th when he was hit by an oncoming car along the Antelope Valley Freeway.
The force of the impact resulted in Beckett being thrown over a bridge abutment and into the California Aqueduct.
Beckett was a passenger in a northbound 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix that was involved in an accident with another driver at around 1:10 a.m., in the area of Barrel Springs Road.
The Pontiac stopped in the far right lane. Beckett then exited the vehicle and was standing with the driver and one other passenger in the shoulder. At that point, a third car neared the crash site and ran into Beckett, at which point he was thrown over the bridge and into the waterway below.
In spite of life-saving measures attempted by paramedics, Beckett died from his injuries.
