Otay Mesa, CA – Hit-and-Run Collision on I-905 at I-805 Leads to Driver’s Rescue, Hospitalization
Otay Mesa, CA (July 30, 2023) – On Friday morning, July 28, a hit-and-run driver in Otay Mesa left a victim trapped in his Mini Cooper, and rescue workers had to work quickly to free him.
The driver of the Mini Cooper was traveling on the ramp from westbound I-905 to northbound I-805 just before 4:00 a.m. when he was hit and forced off the road.
Shortly thereafter, emergency responders and California Highway Patrol troopers arrived at the scene. It took 45 minutes for rescuers from San Diego to free the driver from his mangled vehicle using the Jaws of Life.
The motorist was transferred to Scripps Mercy Hospital to treat reportedly severe but non-life-threatening injuries.
The CHP is currently trying to locate the other driver and is handling the ongoing inquiry.
