Olivehurst, CA – Hit-And-Run Bicycle Crash Kills Gloria Tombs
Olivehurst, CA (October 16, 2018) – According to the California Highway Patrol 59-year-old Gloria Tombs was killed while riding her bicycle on Saturday night, as a result of a violent hit-and-run crash. The initial police report indicates that the hit-and-run occurred at approximately 8 pm in Olivehurst, California.
According to the CHP, Ms. Tombs was riding her bicycle on the left shoulder of McGowen Parkway, heading towards Dan Avenue. The driver of the car was traveling north on Dan Avenue approaching McGowen Parkway. The bicyclist entered the intersection and the car entered the intersection at the same time, striking Gloria Tombs. An oncoming vehicle heading east on McGowen Parkway, was unaware that Ms. Tombs was lying in the roadway amd struck her a second time. After the accident took place, the first driver fled the scene of the accident, driving north on Evelyn Drive. The second driver stopped at the intersection and waited for authorities to arrive. First responders arrived on the scene where they were able to render aid to the injured victims and transported Gloria Tombs to Rideout Hospital, where she died of her injuries.
