Fatal Accidents in California
Our thoughts and condolences are with the family of Michael Barney. Tragically, Barney was involved in a serious crash and the responsible driver failed to act properly by leaving the scene.
All drivers have a legal duty to remain at the scene of a crash, even if the crash was not their fault. Police normally begin their traffic investigation by speaking with the involved drivers. There are many reasons a driver flees an accident scene, including that the driver did not have a license, was impaired, or was otherwise unwilling to be confronted by a police officer.
