Oakhurst, CA – Fatal Crash Reported on Road 222
Oakhurst, CA (July 24, 2018) – A fatal crash has been reported on Road 222, near Road 274 in Oakhurst, California. An initial investigation shows that a Hyundai was traveling eastbound on Road 222, near Old Corral Grocery. The Hyundai was driven by a 31 year old woman.
Suddenly, a vehicle driving westbound on the same road crossed over the center line and collided with the Hyundai. The collision occurred in nearly head-on fashion. The Hyundai driver was trapped inside the vehicle. The Jaws of Life was used to extricate the driver. A helicopter was called to the scene to airlift the injured victim to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno. The extend and severity of injuries are unknown at this time.
The driver of the other vehicle died at the scene. That driver has not been identified. It is unclear what caused the car to cross over the center line. The accident is currently under investigation.
