Nevada City, CA: Child Killed in Single-Vehicle Rollover Crash
Nevada City, California (March 14, 2018): A young child was reportedly killed in a fatal single-vehicle rollover wreck in Nevada City on Monday night, March 12, 2018. The young child has been identified only as a 2-year-old boy and very few details have been made publicly available while officials conduct an active and ongoing investigation into the collision.
The accident reportedly happened around 9:00 p.m. when 2007 Ford Focus traveling west on Highway 20 overturned multiple times after veering off, and then back onto, the highway. Authorities believe the driver of the Ford, 38-year-old Albert J. Silva, of Grass Valley, CA, may have been under the influence at the time of the collision, causing him to lose control of the vehicle. The 2-year-old passenger was thrown from the vehicle and sustained critical injuries. He was transported to Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital and was, tragically, pronounced dead a short while later. Silva is reported to have sustained major injuries in the crash. He has been arrested on suspicion of DUI. No additional information has been provided at this time.
