National City, CA – Major Crash Severely Injures One Person in National City

National City, California (October 23, 2018) – At least one person has sustained major injuries as a result of a multi-vehicle collision that occurred Tuesday morning. The accident transpired at approximately 5:50 am on October 23rd, on westbound Highway 54, just west of the Interstate 5 Freeway southbound connector.

According to The California Highway Patrol, two vehicles collided for indeterminate reasons on Highway 54 in San Diego County. The vehicles were traveling westbound on Highway 54 when the incident took place. One of the vehicles involved in the multi-vehicle collision has been identified as a silver Volkswagen Passat. The initial report indicates, the Volkswagen went down the bridge and rolled over onto the left shoulder underpass after the crash. Sometime later, emergency crews were dispatched to the scene of the accident and injured victims were able to seek medical aid.  Officials have reported that one unidentified victim, was bleeding following the accident. Responding paramedics rushed the unidentified victim to the hospital for treatment of severe injuries. The current physical condition of the injured victim has not been disclosed. Investigators are trying to determine the events that led up to the collision.

As of now, this is an ongoing investigation. As more evidence continues to surface, more information will be released to the public.
