Modesto, CA – Fatal Hit-and-Run Accident on State Route 33
Modesto, CA (March 31, 2019) – Police were called to the scene of a fatal hit-and-run accident that took place on State Route 33 on Friday, March 29th.
The accident, according to police, took place in the area of Highway 33 and Frank Cox Road in the afternoon hours. An investigation found that a Ford van had been approaching the intersection when a Chevy Tahoe made a left turn at the crossing.
The Ford van driver was forced to swerve in an attempt to avoid an accident but, in doing so, the van struck a pole.
The impact was so forceful that the driver of the van suffered life-threatening injuries. The driver was tragically pronounced dead sometime after the crash. Their identity has not yet been revealed.
The driver of the Tahoe evaded the accident and fled the scene. No other information on the accident has been released and it remains under investigation.
