Merced County, CA: Motorcycle Collides with Truck on Highway 59
Merced County, California (April 3, 2018): The California Highway Patrol is overseeing an active and ongoing investigation into a collision between a motorcycle and a truck on Highway 59 yesterday afternoon, Monday, April 2, 2018. The victim has been identified as Joseph Abfalter, but few other details have been made publicly available.
The crash was reported to authorities around 3:15 p.m. and response crews were swiftly dispatched to the accident location on Highway 59. According to the report, Abfalter’s motorcycle crashed into a southbound Freightliner as it was attempting to make a left turn off Highway 59 onto Mission Avenue. Abfalter reportedly sustained serious head injuries as a result of the crash, but no updates on his condition have been released. Reports do not reveal whether the driver of the Freightliner, 60-year-old Eric Scott, was injured in the incident. No additional information has been provided at this time.
