Fatal Crashes in California
A fatal crash is devastating for friends and family members of the deceased. Matters are made even worse when the driver who caused the crash fails to remain on scene. By fleeing, the driver attempts to evade a legal and moral responsibility to those injured as a result of their negligence.
After a fatal crash, the deceased’s family members may have certain legal rights. In California, the surviving family members have the right to pursue a wrongful death claim against anyone whose negligence leads to the death of their loved one. Wrongful death claims allow the heirs to step into the shoes of the deceased and seek certain damages. These damages include burial and funeral expenses and money awarded for loss of society and companionship.
A California wrongful death claim should never be taken lightly. These are serious matters that require excellent legal counsel.
