McFarland, CA – One Person Seriously Hurt in Highway 46 Crash
McFarland, CA (August 3, 2018) – Authorities responded to a crash with serious injuries on Thursday night in McFarland. Just after 11:00 pm, the California Highway Patrol was dispatched to the scene. The crash occurred at Highway 46, just west of Highway 99.
Upon arrival, police discovered a multi-vehicle accident involving a big rig and passenger vehicles. At this time, officers believe that the big rig triggered the crash. The truck was hauling approximately 80,000 pounds of cargo and sustained only minor front end damage.
At least one person in a passenger vehicle was seriously injured and taken to the hospital. An update on their condition is unavailable at this time. Following the crash, approximately 60 gallons of diesel fuel leaked into the roadway. Authorities remained on scene to investigate the crash and clean up the fuel spill.
